Sam Braithwaite to play Heros of Newerth for 72 Straight Hours

It’s not every day that history is made and records are shattered, but this weekend looks to bring both to the GUNNAR community! From Thursday, January 26 – Sunday, January 29, Sam “MilkFat” Braithwaite will attempt to break the world record for longest video game marathon session, competing in Heroes of Newerth at Howie’s Game Shack in Mission Viejo, CA. The current record is 52 consecutive hours, but Sam plans on grinding for 76 straight hours. Fortunately, Sam will be wearing GUNNAR gaming eyewear throughout the course of his epic quest to enter the Guinness Book of World Records!

GUNNAR Optiks will be on hand with S2Games, Monster, and Twitch to support Sam and the HON community with demos and a special deal for on-site participants and those watching the stream!

The entire event will be streamed live on Twitch.TV with an onsite tournament event taking place at Howie’s Game Shack and all of Sam’s proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders. What’s more: Honcast will be covering select matches and events. Viewers are even invited to play against Sam! You can see Sam play with fellow elite HON players, viewers, friends and maybe even some super cute girls. As a bit of history, Sam has been playing competitive games in the MobA/DotA/ARts genre for a good seven years. After experiencing the visual toll that comes with prolonged gaming sessions, Sam turned to GUNNAR Optiks to help stay focused, play longer, and protect his eyes throughout the grueling training leading up to this event. From Friday, January 20th through Sunday, January 22nd, these gamers will go head to head in Twitch.TV streaming battles to compete for their share of the $12,000 cash prize. GUNNAR will be teaming up with Astro, Epic Games, and Aver media to provide prize sponsorship along with demo stations, onsite sales through Beyond Gaming and even an EXCLUSIVE DISCOUNT! With a larger prize pool, a competition field that has doubled in size and the addition of an online qualifying tournament, the second iteration is shaping up to be one of the BIGGEST Gears of War 3 events to date!

GUNNAR Supports CALL OF THE COMMUNITY 2 Charity Event

After last weekend’s technology extravaganza at CES in Las Vegas, this weekend, gaming events are picking up again. This year, we’re excited to kick off an action packed, full slate of events with no end in sight.

First up: Call of the Community, the second installment in creator Erik AKA Aviator‘s charity series. Designed as a fun, good natured tournament that can bring the Call of Duty community together for a day of entertainment and helping others, CoC2 offers the opportunity for subscribers, YouTubers, and MLG stars all to come together for a great cause. The event features 16 teams and 80 players competing in live streaming tournament brackets. GUNNAR will be teaming up with Astro, Machinima, Scuf Gaming, Ready UP Servers, Merrell Works, and Icons to help Erik AKA Aviator build out an entertaining event with prizes, discounts, and more!

The event kicks off with a DRAFT on Friday, January 20th at 6PM PST and the TOURNAMENT begins with a live stream on Sunday, January 22nd at 12PM PST.

GUNNARS & CES 2012

Hey all, Jordan from GUNNAR here!

The GUNNAR team just got back from CES 2012, where we showcased our new Advanced Gaming Eyewear, Advanced Computer Eyewear, and Premium 3D Eyewear.   We had a blast at our Venetian suite (3,000 sq ft!) showing off our new eyewear and enjoying the presence of all the attendees!

CES is truly an inspiring event to attend, as it really helps one grasp how far we have come with technology in the last decade alone.  Personally, after seeing LG’s new OLED TV, I can only imagine what my home theater will look like in 5 years!   Check it out here:  http://bit.ly/AagMTG  …  If LG decides to implement 3D Capability in the new OLED’s…. Using that quality + 3D GUNNARS = Digital Euphoria!  I can only imagine the purdyness :D .
