eSports have finally hit primetime and we couldn’t be happier! eSports giant ESL recently teamed up with Machinima and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to produce a series of episodes that gave an inside look at the journey of five professional Mortal Kombat X players as they worked to qualify for the ESP Pro League Finals. With a mix of backgrounds and story lines, viewers got a fascinating look into the lives of each player as they worked to hone their skills while dealing with everyday life. Six episodes were created by ESL Producer and Host, Joshua Gray, with the first five airing on CW Seed, and the finale airing on the CW Network as a primetime special.
This is a huge leap for eSports in general as competitive gaming continues to see exponential growth. From Activision/Blizzard’s acquisition of MLG to ESPN launching its own division, eSports are quickly becoming a mainstay in televised entertainment. It hasn’t been an easy road to say the least, but this jump to primetime is one more boost for competitive gaming that should certainly help. GUNNAR Optiks is eager to see how 2016 unfolds, and to continued success for all players, organizations, and especially our partners. GG!
